Meghan Trainor's father is recovering from a hit-and-run accident in Los Angeles on Friday night (Feb. 21).

As TMZ first reported, Gary Trainor -- who accompanied his daughter to the 2016 Grammy Awards when she won best new artist, and played piano on a few of the tracks off her 2011 album, Only 17 -- was crossing the street in the San Fernando Valley when he was struck by a car. He was rushed to the hospital shortly thereafter, and a representative for the singer confirmed to Billboard that he's now in stable condition.

Gary played a huge part in Meghan's musical upbringing in Nantucket, an island off the coast of Massachusetts: she grew up singing in her Methodist church, where he played organ, and she, along with her brother Justin and her aunt Lisa, played with him in a local cover band as well. In her 2016 Billboard cover story, Meghan even credits her dad for inspiring his vocal style: "My dad thinks he's James Brown sometimes. He's very soulful. He'll just go, 'How you doin', baby?'"

The "No Excuses" singer released her latest album, Treat Myself, on January 31. She has been working in London, where she's currently a coach on The Voice U.K., and her dad recently made an appearance on the show to charm the judges and wow them with his prowess at the piano.
