Sony announced today that the anticipated multiplayer beta for God of War: Ascension will start from Jan 8, 2013. The beta will be exlcusive to PlayStation Plus subscribers, however game director Todd Pappy had said previously that non-subscribers will have other means to get in as well.
The multiplayer beta will feature large maps, such as the one seen in Desert of Lost Souls, as well as compact arenas for close-quarter combat. Two modes will be available: Team Favour Rush, which is God of War's take on Team Deathmatch, where players will fight to reach the requisite number of favor points from the Gods; and a "yet-to-be-seen" single player mode, which is "designed for solo-warrior fighting for those who like to go it alone."
God of War: Ascension is set to release on March 13, 2013.
